With the anticipation for Super Bowl Sunday heating up, we take a look at some of 2016’s best confirmed Super Bowl ads.

With over 100million people tuning in to watch last year’s event, it’s fair to say that the Super Bowl is one of the most watched television events of the year. Furthermore, with the amount of people opting to watch the event live, there’s obviously a huge scope for advertisers to cash in on the opportunity. With that in mind, it’s probably not surprising to hear that Super Bowl advertising space doesn’t come cheap! At $5million per 30 seconds of advertising space, brands know that they have to pack a punch and make every second count. In fact, to get the most out of their money, advertisers have already started teasing their ads to perpetuate as much hype as possible.

For marketing moguls like ourselves, the ads are often the most exciting part of the Super Bowl experience, so we’ve decided to share our favourite Super Bowl ads of 2016 so far. Let’s play ball…

Heinz – The most adorable ad

Give a brand a hot dog and they’ll feed consumers for a day, but give a brand a hot dog stampede and they’ll get the public eating out of their hands for the rest of their lives. This is potentially the only Super Bowl ad that needed to be longer than the 30 second limit, solely because we wanted to watch those cute little sausage dogs run for as long as humanly possible. We think Heinz could be onto a winner here.

Audi – The surprisingly emotive ad

Normally, we wouldn’t expect to be so moved by an advert that promotes one of the fastest and most powerful cars in the world but there’s a certain degree of poignancy in this ad for Audi. Whether it’s the soundtrack of the late David Bowie’s ‘Starman’ or the sense of nostalgia that the story conveys, there’s no denying that this is great ad. The tagline ties in perfectly with the message which means that this ad goes straight to End Zone and scores the ultimate touchdown.

Mountain Dew -The most bizarre ad

What makes a successful ad? The folks at Mountain Dew seem to think that puppies, monkeys and babies are always a recipe for marketing success, so they took it a step further and created the #PuppyMonkeyBaby hybrid. It’s wonderfully weird if nothing else, and certainly one to remember!

The catchiest song –

We loved Jeff Goldblum’s recent marketing efforts in our favourite Christmas campaigns, and this is another fantastic offering from the man himself. The ad follows a gospel choir moving into a high-rise apartment, with Goldblum himself singing  Movin’ On Up on a piano as he’s lifted higher and higher in the air with a crane. Oh, and did we mention that Lil Wayne happens to live in the same apartment block? If were actually marketing apartments in this building, we’d predict a huge influx of website visits!

The unexpected treat – Snickers

Whilst Mountain Dew have taken the crown for the most obscure advert of 2016, Snickers also gave us something we weren’t expecting. Willem Dafoe reenacting Marilyn Monroe’s famous subway grate scene? Yeah, it’s not something we ever expected to see either. The Super Bowl; bringing you the weirdest ads since 1967.
